February 24 and 25 were beautiful days up at Osler Bluff Ski Club, and the Collingwood Collegiate Institute (CCI) Alpine Ski Team made the most of it.

CCI took 21 racers to Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association championships this year – a tremendous showing!

With uncertain weather conditions, the slalom race was moved to Monday, and the teams all performed well. Our Level 1 boys team came home with the bronze, and the Level 2 male and female teams sailed into gold.

The Level 1 boys team is comprised of: Briden Cardillo, Brodie Casey-Shaw, Adam Millsap, Jasper Issler and Kai Cockerill.

The Level 2 boys team is comprised of: Jayden Buckrell, Taiga Young, Ryder Metcalfe, Mat Bassin and Max Sloan.

The CCI Level 2 girls teams is made up of: Hillary Crossan, Ella Danby, Riley Reain, Gabby Wall and Jessica Nattress.

Gabby Wall had an impressive personal finish, winning bronze as an individual in the Slalom event. Not bad for a Grade 9 athlete!

For the Tuesday race, the teams then switched gears to giant slalom and, once again, had an excellent showing, with the Level 1 boys earning silver, the Level 2 girls earning silver, and the Level 2 boys earning their second gold.

OFSAA team members included:
Genevieve Cook, Hillary Crossan, Sarah Copnick, Ella Danby, Kendal Lockhart, Bridget Matchett, Jessica Nattress, Riley Reain, Megan Scott, Addison Sloan, Gabby Wall, Matt Basin, Jayden Buckrell, Briden Cardillo, Brodie Casey-Shaw, Kai Cockerill, Jasper Issler, Ryder Metcalf, Adam Millsap, Max Sloan, Taiga Young.

Coaches Taresa Matchett and Neil Leicester are proud of the athletes and thankful to the parents that came out and cheered on all of our racers.
