Alpine Skiing

GBSSA Qualifications for skiers 

Each athlete must participate in at least 1 of the 4 pre-GBSSA races and a total of 8 on snow and/or dryland training sessions with your ski team to be eligible for GBSSA’s.

You must show proof at the GB Championships and again at OFSAA (if you have any athletes who qualify).


2018-19 Schedule and Approximate Costs per athlete: 

Thurs Dec 20 – Giant Slalom at Mt. St. Louis / Moonstone (Adele & Peter from Orillia to host) (Costs not determined yet)

Thurs Jan 10 – Slalom at Hidden Valley (Nico @ Huntsville to host) – $40

Wed Jan 16 – GS – at Alpine Ski Club (Brad & Erin @ Eastview to host) $55

Wed Feb 6 – Giant Slalom at Osler Bluff (Kevin (myself) @ Jean Vanier to host) $55

Thurs Feb 14 – GBSSA Championships at Osler Bluff (Kevin @ JV to convene) $65


Mon & Tues Feb 25 & 26 OFSAA

Osler Bluff ($120 per athlete + team fee) – Qualification for GBSSA: 1 Team and 1 Individual for both genders of High School Level Athletes +1 Extra Team spot for High School Boys and 1 Open Team and 1 Open Individual for boys plus 1 Open Team and 1 Open Individual for girls. It is my hope again to cover the costs of the team fee’s from the proceeds from the GBSSA Championship race.


OFSAA Accommodation & Food: 

Athletes and coaches will no longer be required to stay at Blue Mountain for the OFSAA event. You can stay anywhere so long as you follow the proper OFSAA supervision guidelines. See the OFSAA website for accommodation options in the Collingwood area. Food plans are now optional (other than for the banquet). Osler will provide breakfast and lunches, if required, or athletes can Brown Bag their meals.


Definition of Levels:

High School Team Racers are school-trained athletes. They have NO ski league affiliation and race training, beyond the U-12 category (up to the end of their 11th year).

Open Team Racers: Participants are those skiers who have ski league affiliation and race training, beyond the U-12 category.
