Several SCAA Teams Involved in GBSSA Championships March 6th

Tuesday March 6th will be a busy day for SCAA AAA varsity boys and girls hockey champions as well as for boys and girls SCAA curling champions as they will be competing in GBSSA championships with OFSAA entries on the line.

Eastview AAA boys hockey will face St. Peters’ at the Innisfil Recreation Centre at 2:30 pm.

Eastview AAA girls hockey will host St. Theresa’s at Eastview Arena at 3:00 pm.

Eastview boys curling will face Patrick Fogarty in the GBSSA championship semi-finals scheduled for 10:00 am at the Stroud Curling Club.

Bear Creek and Georgian Bay District girls curling face one another in the GBSSA championship semi-finals scheduled for 10:00 am at the Stroud Curling Club.

GBSSA curling finals are set for 2:00 pm at the Stroud Curling Club.

ESS Wildcats Boys Hockey Team Wins SCAA “AAA” Varsity Championship

The Eastview Wildcats varsity boys hockey team defeated the Innisdale Invaders 4-1 in the SCAA “AAA” championship on March 1st. The Wildcats will now play St.Peters’ in the GBSSA “AAA” boys hockey championship on March 6th at the Innisfil Recreation Centre at 2:30 pm. The winner of that game will advance to the OFSAA championship tournament which be held March 21st-23rd in St. Catherines.

CCI Has Superb Day At OFSAA Alpine Ski Championship

Collingwood Collegiate Institute had a superb day at the OFSAA Alpine Ski championships held at Blue Mountain on Feb. 26th-27th. CCI finished the event with the following results;

Gold – High School Boys Slalom: Nicholas Orr

Gold – High School Boys Giant Slalom: Luke O’Keefe

Gold – Open Boys Giant Slalom: Jacques Tiessen

Silver – Open Girls Slalom: Steffi Ralph

Silver – Open Girls Giant Slalom: Emma Gosselin

SCI Spartans Girls “A/AA” Varsity Hockey Team Wins SCAA Championship

The Stayner Collegiate Institute Spartans Girls varsity hockey team won the SCAA “A/AA” championship by defeating Nouvelle Alliance 5-3 on Feb. 28th at the East Bayfield arena in Barrie. The Spartans will now host St. Josephs’ High School on March 1st in the GBSSA Semi-Final. The winner of that game advances to the GBSSA final which will be hosted by Almaquin Highlands Secondary School at the South River arena on March 6th.
