GBSSA Senior Boys 2019 Golf Champions – Innisdale Invaders

Congratulations to all for an outstanding GBSSA Championship tournament today at National Pines Golf Course in Barrie.  The weather was perfect for an incredible day of fall golf, and as expected, some spectacular individual and team performances punctuated a great day for all!!
This year, our overall Individual champion, and our 1st Individual OFSAA qualifier (Open Division) is Andrew Gwilliams of Bradford, who shot a 2-under 70 on one of the Top-100 golf courses in Canada!  Andrew will be joined at OFSAA by our 2nd Individual OFSAA qualifier Christian Leduc from Nantyr, who was our top High School Division golfer with an equally-impressive score of 73, nicely following up his 75 earlier in Qualifying at Tangle Creek.
In the Team Championship, we saw the tightest finish in GBSSA history, with the Innisdale Invaders taking home the 2019 Senior Boys GBSSA Team Championship, edging our the Barrie North Vikings by a single stroke!  Congratulations to C. Preston, M. Brassard, L. Wright, and Tyler MacKenzie, as well as their coach Brent Preston, as they represent the GBSSA next week at the OFSAA Senior Boys Golf Championship, being held at the Kingsville Golf and Country Club in Kingsville, Ontario.  We wish these athletes the best of luck as they compete against the finest high school golfers in the province October 16th and 17th.
Special thanks to Tim Zado of the Golf Management Program from Georgian College for providing commemorative gifts to all of today’s participants, as well as to Chris Favreau of National Pines for providing us with an incredible venue worthy of a GBSSA Championship competition.
