Wrestling With Success: SCAA wins 2 OFSAA Gold Medals

Last week, the OFSAA Wrestling Championships took place in Sault Ste. Marie. The SCAA was well represented with wrestlers traveling from 9 different schools in the region. In team results, Bear Creek S.S. led the way with their girls finishing 8th overall and boys 57th overall. Other team finishes for boys were GBDSS (21), ISS (40), BMHS (84), BNCI (91), OSS (131), and NSSS (137). For the girls, ESS (58), BMHS (71), OSS (98), and TLSS (112). In individual awards, the SCAA earned 5 awards of top 6 finishes. Rayne Lalonde (ISS) won 4th in Boys 72 kg, Amelia Cox (BCSS) won 5th in Girls 64 kg, and Kennedy Lynch (ESS) won 6th in girls 61 kg. The most exciting victories of the weekend came in the boys 47.5 kg event, and the girls 57.5 kg event. Duncan Blake (Boys 47.5 kg) brought home a gold medal for GBDSS and Bronwyn MacGregor (Girls 57.5 kg) brought home gold for BCSS.
